National Burnt Ends Day

National Burnt Ends Day is a fabulous day to get acquainted with our BBQ Dry Rub and BBQ Sauce recipes. Our local Authentic BBQ place has a great offering of burnt ends. They are absolutely mouth-watering.

What exactly are burnt ends and where did they originate?

They are literally the points of a brisket. However, these burnt ends, when coupled with the right bbq sauce, take center stage. The name originates from the cooking time that is required to achieve a tender brisket. The result of the extended cooking time is a charred end as they are thinner.

Don’t let the name scare you off. They are as tender as can be with a crispy outside layer. Everything has a birthplace of sorts and burnt ends were “born” in Kansas City. It is apparently the home base for perfecting these ends and their mastery of the burnt ends has spread countrywide.

How to eat them

They are excellent on their own but are also delicious when paired with the perfect sides. Our local BBQ place serves them up as one, two, or three meat with two sides. One way is in the form of the “Cowboy” which is the ends and mac n cheese on a bulky roll. There are a few choices of sides such as bbq baked beans, greens, beans and rice, and always a side of cornbread. Oh-so-delicious!

So go to your local BBQ joint and take a picture of your favorite meal and use the #NaitonalBurntEndsDay. Check out the BBQ Guys website for various products to grill and prepare your homemade dishes.
