National Coloring Book Day
National Coloring Book Day; This has got to be one of the more fun National Day of’s for me. I tend to fancy coloring a might more than my seven-year-old does. That’s no exaggeration either. It’s comical to see her hanging MY colorings on her wall because she says, and I quote, “Momma, you’re an expert colorer and artist”. Oh, my heart! If only she were always that sweet and if only it would be like that forever. Imaging it being that easy to impress your child? So I think it’s safe to say that both children and adults get great pleasure from coloring,
#NationalColoringBookDay is for everyone. There is something in the act of coloring that tends to reduce stress. The colors are endless in this day in age. Perhaps that’s why more adults than ever have taken to their childhood past time lately. It’s a great way to decompress or spend a rainy day and it’s a fabulous way to spend time with our littles.
Coloring books make great gifts any time. Whether it be a birthday, holiday, or a get-well gift, it makes a soul smile. If you don’t have a coloring book lying around the house then try “coloring” electronically. Here’s a link for kids to try it out and for adults here.
What’s the history?
Not too much on the internet that’s readily available about this one. I was able to locate the pertinents. It was essentially “invented” or born in May of 2015 by Dover Publications. Now I was able to gather some information on them. The first coloring book aimed at adults was in 1970 – Antique Automobiles. There were many other firsts for the company and you can view the list here on their website.
