National Raspberry Bombe Day

Spread the love

I’ll be honest, before today, I didn’t know anything about this delectable treat. I am excited to present you with what I’ve learned along the way. Maybe I’ve been living in the dark ages and you already know all there is to know about the bombe! Let’s celebrate National Raspberry Bombe Day!!

#NationalRaspberryBombeDay

Here we are, August 11th, in the midst of a record hot and humid summer. What better way to hedge the heat than a tantalizing FROZEN dessert? I can’t think of a better way to top off my summer BBQ meal (or any meal, really). As long as your company is on board with raspberry, then this dessert should knock it out of the park and leave them begging for the recipe.

What exactly is this dessert?

Traditionally, a bombe consists of candied fruit, chopped nuts, a dash of rum, heavy cream, sherbert, and sugar. You will need a spherical mold of some sort to create this beauty. Using the mold, you will need to layer the ingredients and let it freeze overnight. With the raspberry season being at its peak it stands to reason that you should make more than one of these. It should last about 3 months in the freezer.

You can find this dessert and other variations here. There has to be something to this dessert as variations of it have been served up since 1882. Get on the net and start searching for ways to celebrate National Raspberry Bombe Day.

Some other days to celebrate today:

Global Kinetic Sand Day

National Presidential Joke Day

National Sons & Daughters Day

And if you missed yesterday’s National Day you can find it here.
