National Relaxation Day

Spread the love

We all have some sort of image that is conjured up when we hear National Relaxation Day. Whether you’re into sitting by the lake, going to a crowded beach, or laying on the couch with a good book. Whatever it is, it’s sure to bring a smile to our faces.

I find it interesting that this was not a day designated for a particular Sunday. After all, Sunday is the Lord’s day and a day of rest. Not getting preachy here, but it simply states in Genesis 2:2-3:

2And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. 3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

Proof it should have been designated to a Sunday. Whatever the day that we celebrate, let us all be reminded to slow down, relax, unwind, and take time to smell the roses.

Why is it so important?

We all seem to live pretty fast-[aced lives nowadays. It’s so very important to recognize National Relaxation Day more than once per year. It’s good for our mental state and our physical health as well. Statistics show that when we go and go and go we tend to suffer effects. There’s an increased chance of heart attack. We suffer from brain fog and can make poor choices. The we miss out on quality family time. Suddenly we start skipping meals, and missing appointments, and finally we find ourselves in a bad way.

So take some time and do what relaxes you.

Here are some things you might try:

  • Do a puzzle
  • Play solitaire
  • Read a Book
  • Go to the beach
  • Lay in a hammock
  • Go horseback riding
